8 Chains North is a small family-owned and -operated farm winery located in the town of Waterford in picturesque Loudoun County, Virginia. Our business began in 2006 when our original vineyard, Furnace Mountain, was planted by father and son on the bluffs of the Potomac River. We believe that the best wines begin in the vineyard, and invite you to enjoy a glass or bottle with us.
Apr. 22: Music & Wine on Rt. 9
We welcome Jim Steele to the Tasting Room this Saturday. Jim has been entertaining audiences for years as a solo artist and as half of the popular acoustic duo Steele and Oglevee. With diverse influences ranging from 30s swing bands to today’s pop and country acts (and everything in between), Jim plays an eclectic and fun mix of music that’s sure to please! Steele says his greatest joy is to see someone smiling and feeling happy when he plays! (A glass of wine won’t hurt either.)
Apr. 21-23: 2016 Sauv Blanc Release
This weekend we release our 2016 Sauvignon Blanc. We are very excited about this vintage and, to celebrate, we are offering a special case discount — 20% off for the general public and 30% off for Wine Club members. This weekend only! The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc made with fruit from two of our vineyards. One with coarse, sandy, well-draining soils, making for a very lean, crisp wine, and the other with heavier, more loamy soils, resulting in a fuller, rounder wine on the palate. Long, slow cold fermentations in stainless steel capture the delicate fruit undertones of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Blending the vineyards’ fruit gives both aromatics/delicate fruit characteristics, along with great acidity and palate structure.
Apr. 23: Music & Wine on Rt. 9
Join us on Sunday from 2:00–5:00 pm for Music and Wine on Rt. 9 with Ken Francis Wenzel. Ken brings his Midwestern-accented musings to 8 Chains North, telling stories spun from a life spent moving from town to town. Nominated for four Washington Area Music Awards in 2016, Wenzel has come into his own as one of the DC region’s most recognizable, unique performers and songwriters. A saxophonist, guitarist, and singer/songwriter, Ken has been described as a purveyor of restless Midwestern sentimentality, who searches in his songs for the kinds of truth that’s often best found within oneself. You won’t want to miss this performer.
